The Philmore South, is a quaint, down-to-earth privately operated stage and recording studio uniquely located on Grand Rapids‘ historic Division Avenue in the Home Acres Art District. No stranger to art and live music, in recent years the location has been utilized as a film studio, rehearsal space, and late night venue, locally known as The Mothership. Prior to its Mothership years, the space was a Guatemalan Church.
As of Fall 2022, The Mothership was re-envisioned to become a Grateful Dead inspired analogue experiment dedicated to bassist, Phil Lesh. Showcasing live performances with noticeable heart, The Philmore South strives to be it’s own flavor of novelty among Grand Rapids’ passionate music and arts community by bringing it back to simpler times with it’s mid-century decor, beat-era inspiration, and speakeasy intimacy.
